Co-locating to the HRI2013, we host an international symposium on “Human-Robot Symbiosis,” supported by MEXT as Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas

In “Human-Robot Symbiosis,” we have researched to create a vision of the coming society where humans and robots live, work, and intellectually collaborate together. One of our themes is Human Robot Learning.  It envisions a society where a robot works with learners, as one of them, not as a teacher.  Currently, at many countries, educational reforms to change more traditional, teacher-centric classrooms into learner-centric, collaborative classrooms, where the learners create their own knowledge by integrating what they have known to what is given in the learning situations.  At this symposium, we aim at this new type of learning and research on how a robot can play a role in this constructive interaction. We welcome everyone who are interested in this topic, in creating and sharing a new vision on learning, so that we together can open a new research field for HRI.
